°One for the kids

July 21, 2006

Since youtube relegated this to ‘adult only’ content (which apparently means being able to register with youtube), I’ve put it up here. It’s a small bit of commentary on muppets and managing affect at a time of war.

Speaking of youtube, they’ve pulled the pilot of Battlestar Galactica. Galactica, of course, has been something of a battleground over copyrighted distribution from the get go.

And, speaking of BSG and the increasing resort to the openly racist charge that the mounting deaths of children might be explained not by the actions of the IDF, but by the ‘inhumanity’ of ‘Arabs’, I can’t really pass up the opportunity to quote this line, spoken by the cylon Biers (played by Lucy Lawless), which turns the whole complex of humanist rationalisations - that can only but serve to confirm the inhumanity/dehumanisation of the enemy - on its head:

Humans don’t respect life like we do.
