I wished Admiral Cain had not been the villain of the season. The Christians and Texas was so much more interesting. Don’t get me wrong, I like the general madness in Bon Temps, but Maryanne is intolerable, even going so far as to reach the shitty action movie trope of “Must I do everything myself?” I like that is the most serious show about consumption and its ethics that I’ve seen. Basically, “True Blood” (the drink; not the show itself) is tofu.
I love that Cain is Maryann - from Tauron Big Bad to Minotaur-like Goddess Big Bad is funny, in a very silly and excessive way. And it’s a difficult call between the Queen and Pam - the conversation between Pam and Eric in the bar about the kids is excellent. We sure don’t see enough of Pam.
But, tofu? Really? That makes perfect sense - good for you, but (as Eric remarked) boring. :)
Eric, from what I can ascertain (i.e., via my partner), has become an internet fangirl phenomenon. The “teacup humans” is especially popular. Part of what ruins Cain was her character in “Durham County”(a Canadian attempt at premium cable): almost identical to Maryann, but psychotic instead of debauched. How people have played previous/other characters strongly affects how I am able to perceive them in other shows. I liked Cain, but saw her in “Durham County” before “True Blood.” She’s written off to me! Likewise, I could not stand Ziggy in “The Wire,” so I couldn’t watch “Generation Kill.” We only ended up watching “Generation Kill” because of Eric.
I like the cousins Bellefleur a lot, especially Andy’s drunken and insane way of saying things like, “Claaaws.”

Oh, and the Queen of Louisiana is great, but Pam, Eric’s progeny, is better.
