Alain excerpted a bit of an interview with Wendy Brown over at Long Sunday. In the interview, Brown remarks that “losing liberal democracy to neo-liberal political rationality” might be more analogous to “the loss of the hated but needed father” than it is to losing a loved one.
Besides reminding me of Tronti’s argument regarding democracy (which we discussed in the full version of this), it reminded me of Rebecca Comay’s essay “Dead Right: Hegel and the Terror” (South Atlantic Quarterly 103:2-3, 2004):
